Ganderbal, 09 July (KNO): The populace of Shiekhpora and other half dozen villages in District Ganderbal are suffering badly due to the bad condition of approach road which according to them has been left half way soon after the execution of construction work. Imtiaz Ahamd, a local resident told news agency - Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that 6.5 KM stretch from Shiekhpora to Malikpora is the only approach road for half a dozen villages which was taken up for execution of construction by rural department under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna in year 2018. Locals of Sheikhpora said that the construction work on the road started three years before and at some spots the widening process was also started but unfortunately the department could not complete it and left the project mid-way. According to locals the executing agency laid substandard material including filth from nearby streams and stopped the work with the excuse of non- availability of funds. People said that during bad weather the condition of the said road goes worse which adds to their problems particularly in case of medical emergencies. An official told KNO that the widening process took more time because of the lackadaisical approach of the contractor. “We have sent notice to the concerned competent authority and are expecting that the work on the said road will be resumed soon,” an official said—(KNO)
